The transformative effect that AI will have on biological engineering can be hard to visualize. Data is the essential resource that powers machine learning applications and biological data has always been one of Ginkgo’s strengths and a key differentiator—but what does all this data look like and what does it mean for their customers?
To explore this, we designed an open-house Data Exhibit during Biotech Week Boston 2024. The tour path was decorated with floor and wall decals of a graphic representation of 500,000 engineered microbial strains in Ginkgo’s database. Throughout the path were five groups of scientific posters, each highlighting data from Ginkgo services. My main contribution in this exhibit was designing several poster sets, as well as helping with brainstorms and the physical installation of everything.
