Decay Goes Away

Type: Social media design | Photography | Digital & physical graphic design

Media: Dead bird | Plastic | Paper | Photography | Photoshop

Year: 2020

Simple social media post stating that although decay might not be pretty, it does go away, unlike plastics.

Design plays at the intersection of designing with physical materials and digital tools. Created by photographing a dead Dark-eyed Junco (bird) on a white piece of paper—trying to capture dramatic lighting at sunset, as well as the beauty of its being. The second slide contrasts the organic quality of the first slide, hiding a photographed pile of plastic trash within the words “GOES AWAY”.

Appreciation note: Thank you, Junco, for the opportunity to photograph your body. Your life lives on in my heart (and art) and within the earth you decayed. <3
